We headed to Savannah this morning and parked at the Visitors Center. With tickets in hand, we hopped on the Old Town Trolley...
The Old Town Trolley is one of a couple of trolley tours in Savannah. We chose Old Town because they have the most comprehensive tour, along with the most stops. The trolley tour is 90 minutes with 16 stops. You can hop on/off at any of these stops all day...
Our plan was to stay on the trolley for the full tour, getting the lay of the land as it were.
| and, we're off! |
The city of Savannah is laid out in squares, with parks in the middle...
| Chippewa Square. It was here that Forrest Gump sat on a bench and uttered the words "my momma always said life is like a box of chocolates..." the bench was located in front of these bushes. |
Once our tour was complete, we decided to focus on the Historic District. Back on the trolley we hopped to begin our exploration...
Beautiful homes, churches and some businesses surround these squares. The streets are lined
with beautiful trees and gas lights. We so enjoyed walking through the parks and neighborhoods...

Some had unique downspouts...
And some, like this home, along with iron works
had an interesting door
which led to a garden...
It was a hot day...we looked for whatever shade we could find...

It was very hot; we sat in the shade for a bit before heading to the closest trolley stop...
