Reunited!!

Thursday, January 2, 2014

Another beautiful day for traveling!  We packed up and hit the road.  Before you knew it, we arrived at our winter destination in Ingram.  Johnson Creek RV Resort!

When we arrived at the office, this sign was posted on the door:

Ha Ha!! We know who's important here!!

Johnson Creek is a small (just over 50 RV sites) RV Park located in the Hill Country of Texas.  Within the park is working pecan grove.

Also within the park is a small chapel, beautiful clubhouse, and western town.  Both the club house and western town are used for potlucks, dinners and other gatherings

We love it here.  This is our third winter here and we consider Johnson Creek to be our winter home.  We've made some good friendships over the past couple of years.  It's good to see those that are here already.  Others will be arriving at various times this month.

Just about every evening we have visitors...

these are Axis Deer.  Much smaller than the white-tailed deer we are used to seeing

Friday, January 3

Today is LEO's (Lets Eat Out).  Every couple of weeks a group of us heads to one of the more interesting eateries in the Hill Country.  Today we went to the Apple Store in Medina...

A hungry group waiting for our burgers...David, Shirlene, Connie, Bill & BJ

Stan, Dave and Jack

The Apple Store is known for the their burgers (the BEST) and of course, their apple pie!!  Good food, good friends, good times!!

Saturday, January 4

You know you're back in the Hill Country when...

the boots and the fence go on and on and on...

Monday, January 6

Connie, Shirlene, Becky & I decided to have a "girls lunch".  We headed over to Taqueria Jalisco,
which is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in the Hill Country...

Shirlene explaining an idea

Connie (aka "sugar britches") also listening to Shirlene

As usual, the food was great, the conversation even better!!!!

Wednesday, January 8

Wednesdays are craft days here at Johnson Creek.  Today's craft was sock animals...

Darlene, Shirlene and Vickey planning their sock animal...

Connie & Becky discussing their projects

even Ryan got into the act...

Wednesdays are also card night.  A few of us gathered at the Club House to play "panties".  It's really not risque!! LOL!!  Connie, Stan, Ron and I have never played this game.  So, needless to say hilarity ensued!!!  Unfortunately, the guys won.  We'll get 'em next time!!

Connie and Stan starting to get the hang of this game

Thursday, January 9

Could not wait any longer!!! Becky, Vickey and I headed to Comfort to The Tinsmith's Wife (the building was originally a tinsmith's shop, hence the name).  This yarn shop is by far the best yarn shop in all of Texas!!!  This past June, they bought the building next door to them and expanded their shop.  They now have a room dedicated to needlepoint, another room for knitters and crocheters to sit and knit/crochet.  The rest of the shop is devoted to fiber and the tools of the trade.  Love it!!!

Of course, we had to stop at the Cocky Rooster for lunch!  They have the best chicken salad in the area!!

Friday, January 9

Tonight was chili supper night at the Club House...

Once again, good food, good conversation and lots and lots of fun!!

It's so good to be back to our winter home.  It's been a busy week and we're looking forward to more fun next week!!!  Sue & Glen Jackson, y'all are missed!!! Looking forward to seeing you in March!!
Leanne and Steve, can't wait to see you!!
