Johnson Creek Comes to Branson

Monday, September 30

More of our friends from Johnson Creek RV Park, arrived today; Connie and Stan join Greg and Judy (who arrived Sunday) and Jerri and George who arrived on September 24.  Tom and Dee will arrive soon. This will be a fun week.  We all met each other (including David and Becky) at Johnson Creek RV Park in Ingram, Texas.  JCRV is where we spend our winters.

Tonight, we all met at Little Hacinda (by far the best Mexican Restaurant EVER)  for dinner.

It was sooo good to see everyone and get caught up.  Lots and lots of laughter was had!!

Tuesday, October 2

The Government Shutdown.  What can be said except UGH!!  The Ozark Rivers Heritage Foundation, in conjunction with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers runs the Dewey Short Visitor Center and the tours of Table Rock Dam.  The Foundation has agreed to continue running the DSVC and continue to offer tours during this time. Leah, who is a ranger with the Corps has been furloughed...

Connie, Stan and Judy on the Trolley, heading to the Dam

While Connie, Stan and Judy were on the Dam Tour (we love our dam jokes), Ron and I went to Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery.  The hatchery is a trout hatchery, predominately rainbow and some brown trout . It's located on the Lake Tanneycomo side of Table Rock Dam.

Shading for the brown trout.  Brown trout are skittish and prefer shade

Isn't it beautiful? I'm becoming fascinated with spiders and their webs.  Thanks Sherryl!!

Tonight all twelve of us went to see the Pierce Arrow Show at the Pierce Arrow Theatre.  We pretty much took over an entire row of seating...

Jerri, Dee, Tom, David, Becky, Judy, Greg, Connie & Stan

Had to get George in the pic!!

Pierce Arrow is a show that comprises music from gospel to Motown, with a lot of comedy thrown in. We'd heard that it was a great show.  It did not disappoint!!

Stan wearing the hat Ron bought & Connie after the show

hmmm, that hat reminds me of something, but I can't think of what it is...

Wednesday, October 2

Ron, David and a couple of the guys went golfing today...it was a beautiful day for golf.

Getting' ready to hit the links...

Beautiful Course

This evening we went to the Eagles Tribute with Connie and Stan.  What can we say, we love that show!!

Connie & Stan enjoying the show

Wednesday, October 3

Ron and I spent the morning at the Branson Landing.  The Landing is located along Lake Taneycomo, and is filled with shops and restaurants. There's a nice walkway along the lake. Cooper really enjoyed walking there.

The Landing is also where you Ride the Ducks, cruise the lake on the Island Princess or the Lake Queen.  A fun place!!

The fountain spurts are synchronized to music...

Love all the flowers...

A group of us went to Charley's for dinner tonight.  Their menu is somewhat like Chili's...

From left...Stan, Dee, Tom, Ron, George, Jerri, David & Becky

Can't forget about Connie!!

Whaddya know...Ron's girlfriend, Rebecca Dawn, showed up...

She sure looks like she's pining for Ron...

Before ya knew it, Becky had gotten the microphone from Rebecca Dawn and
proceeded to sing Satin Sheets to David...

hmmm, not sure what David's thinking...

Friday, October 4

Late this afternoon, we all went to the Shepherd of the Hills Complex.  We were there to have a chuck wagon dinner and to see the Sons of the Pioneers perform.

Finally, we able to get a group photo of everyone...

The dinner was great, beef brisket, smoked chicken (the BEST chicken I've ever had) BBQ beans, potatoes, corn on the cob...

What can I say??? Becky loves her sweet tea!!

Ron's all set for dinner...

Passin' the corn around. It was yummy!!

Chris our server, with Connie & Stan...Chris named Connie "Sweet Britches"...
something to do with Connie's lack of attention when straws were being thrown!!

Following dinner, we enjoyed the western harmonies of Sons of the Pioneers.

I could have listened to the fiddle player all evening...
He's won many awards for his playing...

Saturday, October 5

We had a very much needed all-day rain today...the cold front moved in and it now feels like Autumn. The leaves should be turning colors soon.  Speaking of leaves, remember the Empress Paulownia leaves that Becky was gathering???

Sherryl uses them to create wonderful concrete leaves out of real leaves.

Later this afternoon a group of us went down to Branson Landing and took the dinner cruise aboard the Island Princess on Lake Taneycomo.  The rain ceased just as we arrived at the Landing. The Island Princess is a 100' luxury yacht...the dinner was great, the scenery stunning, and the fellowship priceless!!

Waiting to get on the boat...

We said goodbye to Jerri and George tonight.  They're headed back home to Rogers, Arkansas.  We'll see them soon at Johnson Creek...if not before.

Saying goodbye to Jerri & George

Sunday, October 6

Tom and Dee, along with David and Becky joined us saying goodbye to Connie and Stan tonight at Little Hacinda.  It was fitting saying goodbye to them there as this is where we first met them when they arrived. Not to mention, Little Hacinda has the BEST Mexican food EVER!!

We'll see Connie & Stan soon at Johnson Creek as well.  We wished them safe travels as they head to Oklahoma for a Hitchhiker Rally and then back to Johnson Creek.

Sunday, October 7

The last of the Johnson Creek group leaves tomorrow.  We said farewell to Tom and Dee at Mr. Gilberti's for dinner...Tom regaled us with stories of life in the Air Force while stationed in Italy.  Lots of laughter was had.

Following dinner we all went to Andies for Ice Cream.  Andies is a 50's style building/drive-in that has the best custard ice cream.  We had Cooper with us... he was not a happy camper because we forgot his leash. Y'all know how much he loves his ice cream!!! Thankfully, Becky came to the rescue!! She had one of Rocky's (aka Rock Star, aka Table Rock) leash's in her truck!!! Believe me when I say that Cooper was a very happy boy!!

Tom and Dee are leaving for Waco in the morning...we are looking forward to seeing them soon at Johnson Creek.

We will miss all of our JCRV friends and look forward to seeing them all soon.  We had a blast with them all this week.  So much laughter and love!!!  A big shout out to Becky as she planned and coordinated our itinerary for the week.  Great job Becky!!! And much thanks!!

We are reminded once again how truly blessed we are to be living our dream...we give thanks and Praise to God.
