Rain, Rain Go Away

Sunday, June 6

With the exception of a sunny afternoon on Friday, it's been cold and rainy since the team left Friday. I suppose if you're a duck you'd be happy with all this rain...but for the rest of us...UGH!!

No teams this week as Mike and Libby are off to the Dakotas' Annual Conference.  They leave for Bismark on Tuesday and will be back on Saturday.

As it is a quiet week, Ron and I decided to build a deck for the front of our Rig.  A good place to hang out.  Tuesday morning, in between rain drops, we began
                                                                         Laying it out

Digging for the the block for the first corner
                                                                     Raising the corner

                                                                       Coop's Corral

Overnight on Tuesday, you guessed it, it rained. Just what we needed was more rain!!
Early Wednesday mornings are food delivery days.  We awoke to drizzle and more cold.
Loren, the Sysco delivery man arrived and promptly

Got stuck trying to turn around in the driveway

Ron decided to get the tractor. The tractor should be able to pull Loren out, right?...

Well...maybe not.  Let's try this...

Ok, on to Plan C...Dan to the rescue!

Dan from Branson County Road Commission

This should work...

And it does!!! Now that Loren's unstuck we need to get him turned. He kept sliding into the trees.  What to do, what to do...

Todd to the rescue!

Thank you Todd!!

After our morning excitement, back to deck building we go...

                                                                  Putting the joists in

I love the compound miter saw!!

Putting in the braces

                                                                     Ready for decking

                                                             Screwing in the deck boards

Amost Done...

And FINI!!!!

We decided to go into Grand Forks for a late lunch to celebrate Ron's birthday.  Was a beautiful, sunny day.  Temp in the low 70's.  One of the nicest days we've had since we've arrived.

On the way there, as we were driving past the Grand Forks Air Force Base (just west of Grand Forks) we saw a drone flying overhead.  It was flying pretty low.  Wish I could have gotten a picture.  This was the first drone we've seen in person.  Pretty cool.

On our way back from a great lunch at Red Lobster we stopped in Lakota.  In honor of Ron's birthday, Coop bought Ron a blizzard and himself a medium vanilla cone! Good job, Coop!!

Coop LOVES ice cream!!!  Do dogs get brain freeze??

Plan on relaxing for the remainder of the weekend.  Mission work begins in earnest on Sunday.  We've two teams arriving on Sunday afternoon -- one from Eureka, SD and one from Iron Mountain, MI.  Approximately 40 people. Looking forward to a fun, and busy, week!!
