After a quick stop (less than an hour) at Discount Tire, we were on the road to Findlay, Ohio - about 100 miles south. Another beautiful day for a drive...
We're staying at
in Van Buren Township, about 12 miles from our son's home in Findlay. It's a nice park with lots of trees. There's a train that travels within 500 yards of the campground (just on the other side of the corn field). Some would say that that is "too close" or "too noisy". For us it's fine. The train travels past the park throughout the day and night. We honestly don't hear it while we're sleeping. Though, we both like to hear the sound of the trains whistle.
corn field that is adjacent to the campground...the corn is as high as... |
It was a beautiful night view the "blue" moon...

Very hot and humid day today. We're very grateful for the "cold" front that went through and lowered the temperature to 86. We're even more grateful that the front lowered the humidity.
Yesterday was the first day of school for Preston and Lily. Preston is in the third grade and Lily is now a first-grader...
only the second day of school and Preston has some math homework...
Teague, who is two, likes to do everything his big brother and big sister do. Sooo, he's doing his "homework" while sitting with mama...
Another very hot and humid day today.. We are grateful for the "cold" front that moved in and lowered the temperature two degrees, all the way down to 86!! We're even more grateful that the front substantially lowered the humidity. It's a beautiful evening to sit outside tonight and enjoy the whistle of the train and the sound of the locusts...
We went for a walk tonight and came across this interesting plant...
Corn and
Pumpkins, two of our favorite things!

We're really enjoying our time here in Findlay with our grand kids (their parents too). Of course, what's not to enjoy when surrounded by grand kids???!!!
Teague loves to help daddy mow the lawn...
This week has been very hot and very humid ~ most days the temperatures have been in the upper 80's with humidity of 80%. Rather late in the year for the dog days of summer!!
We've been going for walks in the morning and the early evening in order to try to beat the heat.
I've been referring to this area of Ohio as the "land of beans and corn". Soy beans, that is. Our campground here has a corn field on one side and a soy bean field across the street. This part of Ohio grows a lot of corn and soybeans. On our walk tonight, we walked across the street to take a closer look at the soy beans...
Friday, August 30
Hotter and hotter with higher humidity. Today, Preston and Lily came to our campground to spend the day. We had a blast!!! Special times and lots of memories made to be sure. This was a great start to Labor Day Weekend!!

At long last, the humidity has finally broken. It's still hot, but much more pleasant than it's been. Dad left Ellen's this morning to head back home. We met him at Denny's here in Findlay for lunch. It was good to see him one more time before we leave.

Rather than leave for Missouri today, we decided to forgo the traffic and leave tomorrow. We met Bryan and family for a "good-bye" lunch. We spent the rest of the day packing up a few things. Mostly we enjoyed the beautiful day.
We've really enjoyed our stay in Findlay. Goodbyes are always difficult...
New adventures await us in Missouri!!
